Maureen E. Lally-Green was born in 1949. One of eight siblings, Maureen has had a diverse and storied legal career.

She attended Duquesne University for both undergraduate and law school, earning her Juris Doctrate in 1974. After graduation, Lally-Green first worked at a private law in Pittsburgh, then went to Washington D.C. where she was counsel for the Federal Trading Commission from 1975-1978. She returned to Pennsylvania and provided counsel to the Westinghouse Electric Corporation, Duquesne University, and the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania for the next two decades.

Former Governor Tom Ridge appointed her to a vacancy on the Superior Court of Pennsylvania in 1998, and she successfully won a state-wide election the following year. Judge Lally-Green has published a great deal of legal review papers during her career. She was a co-chair of appellate rules changes in issues involving children/family matters (Children’s Fast Track 2008-2009). She retired for the Superior Court Bench in 2009 and has continued to serve on non-profit, for profit, academic, and other varied organizations.

Judge Lally-Green has been on the Board of Pennsylvania’s Department of Education, since she was nominated by Governor Tom Corbett in 2011. From 2009 to 2015, she served as associate general secretary for the Catholic Diocese of Pittsburgh.

She was most recently Duquesne University’s Dean of their Law School from 2016 to 2019, where she continues to serve as Professor Emerita.
