Judge Richard Brewster Wickersham was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on April 4, 1929.
He earned his bachelor’s degree from Dickinson College in 1950 and his law degree from Dickinson School of Law in 1953. Following graduation, Judge Wickersham served in the U.S. Army Judge Advocate Generals’ Corps until 1956.

He received the Good Conduct Medal and the National Defense Service Medal for his service.
For the next three years, Judge Wickersham worked as the assistant district attorney of Dauphin County, Pennsylvania. He then moved to private practice, serving as solicitor of the Lower Paxton Township Board of Supervisors and general counsel of the Pennsylvania State Association of Township Supervisors.
Over the course of his career, he served as a member of the Insurance, Negligence, and Workmen’s Compensation Committees of the state bar association; the National Panel of the American Arbitration Association; and the International Association of Insurance Counsel. Additionally, he held the position of the Pennsylvania chairman of the Defense Research Institute.

In 1971, Judge Wickersham was elected to the Court of Common Pleas of Dauphin County
and served for eight years. He was then elected to the Superior Court in the fall of 1979
and assumed office on January 7, 1980. He resigned from the position in March 1988 and returned to private practice, where he remained active in the legal field for the rest of his career.
Judge Wickersham passed away on April 30, 2008, at the age of 79.
