Judge Peter Paul Olszewski hailed from Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania and completed work at the Wyoming Seminary. He attended Lafayette College for his undergraduate degree and a JD in 1952 from St. John’s University School of Law.

Olszewski was drafted into the US Army and served as a Staff Sergeant in the China-Burma-India theater of operations. Upon his return home, he was the City Solicitor for Scranton (1955-1961) and a trial lawyer for 15 years. Judge Olszewski was elected to the Luzerne County Court of Common Pleas in 1967. In 1983, he was elevated to the Superior Court of PA.

During his career, Olszewski was faculty and advisor to the National Judicial College. He received numerous awards and accommodations, including Fraternal Order of Eagles, Director of St. John University’s Law School Alumni Association, Liberty Under Law recipient, Frank Albert State Polic Lodge (Lifetime), Distinguished Law and Justice Award of the Deputy Sheriff’s Association, as well as the Distinguished Law and Justice Award of County and State Detectives Association.

Olszewski retired from the Superior Court in 2005. The Honorable Peter Paul Olszewski died, in Wilkes-Barre, on July 18, 2015 at the age of 90.
