President Judge Wright was born in Bedford County on November 20, 1901. He attended Bedford High School and Haverford College, then graduated from the University of Pennsylvania Law School in 1925. President Judge Wright was a member of Phi Beta Kappa at Haverford and a member of the Order of the Coif at the University of Pennsylvania.
President Judge Wright started his career as the District Attorney of Bedford County, serving in this capacity for five years until being appointed as County Solicitor. President Judge Wright joined the Bedford County Court of Common Pleas and was elected President Judge in 1941. In 1952, he served as a delegate to the Republican National Convention, representing Pennsylvania’s now-outdated Eighteenth Congressional District.
President Judge Wright was elected to a full term on the Superior Court in the fall of 1953, then again in 1963. On January 1, 1968, he became President Judge of the court. President Judge Wright served until he reached the mandatory retirement age of seventy in 1974.
