Biography

Justice David Norman Wecht is a Justice on the Pennsylvania Supreme Court having been elected to the highest court in Pennsylvania in 2015 for a ten-year term. He served from 2012 to 2015 on the Superior Court of Pennsylvania.

Justice Wecht attended Yale College, where he was elected to the Phi Beta Kappa Society, and graduated summa cum laude in 2984. He then attended Yale Law School where he served on the Yale Law Journal and graduated in 1987.

Prior to this election on the Superior Court, Justice Wecht served on the Allegheny Court of Common Pleas as a atrial judge from February 2003 until January 2012. From 2009 to 2011, he served as an administrative judge of the Family Court Division. He also served as Allegheny County’s elected register of wills and clerk of orphans’ court form 1998 to 2003.
