Biography
Judge Jacqueline O. Shogan earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Temple University in 1975. After earning a Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Virginia, she spent several years working as a clinical instructor, clinical nurse specialist, and staff nurse. In 1990, Judge Shogan earned her Juris Doctor from Duke University School of Law and began her legal career. She served as a member and officer of the Board of Directors of Neighborhood Legal Services and held leadership positions in many professional organizations. She also taught appellate practice at the University of Pittsburgh School of Law.
After four years of public service working as an assistant district attorney, she returned to private practice where she focused on civil litigation, health law, and administrative law at Thorp, Reed & Armstrong LLP. Judge Shogan also served as an arbitrator and mediator before being elected to the Superior Court of Pennsylvania in 2007. She later retired in 2021.
