Biography
Judge Joseph A. Hudock was born on November 21, 1937 in Greensburg, Pennsylvania. He was a 1955 graduate of his beloved Saint Vincent Prep, earned his Bachelor of Arts from St. Vincent College, which he also treasured, and his Juris Doctor from Duquesne University School of Law in 1962.
From 1963 to 1967, he served in the United States Navy Judge Advocate General Corps. At the time of his discharge from the Navy, he had attained the rank of Lieutenant Commander, of which he was extremely proud.
Judge Hudock served as Chairman of the Supreme Court Appellate Procedural Rules Committee, and was involved in civic organizations such as Boy Scouts, Rotary Club, the Advisory Board of the Salvation Army, and the Community Nursing Service.
Prior to his election to the bench, he opened a law office in Greensburg with his dear friend, John Driscol, who would eventually also be elected to the Court of Common Pleas of Westmoreland County. As a judge, he served on the Court of Common Pleas in Westmoreland County beginning in 1978, and in 1989 he was elected to the Superior Court of Pennsylvania. Ten years later, he was retained for another term until his retirement in 2007.
He passed away on December 14, 2016.
