Biography

Judge Michael T. Joyce was born in Pittsburgh on February 24, 1949. He earned his Bachelor of Arts from Pennsylvania State University and his Juris Doctor from the Franklin Pierce Law Center in 1977.

Judge Joyce was very accomplished; he served as a staff sergeant in the United States Army Military Intelligence Corps, as well as with the 25th Infantry Division in Vietnam. He served as a presidential law clerk in the White House during the Ford Administration and also ran an independent law practice for eight years.

In 1985, Judge Joyce was appointed to the Erie County Court of Common Pleas where he was elected for a 10-year term and then was retained for another. In November of 1997, he was elected to the Superior Court until his retirement in 2008.
