Biography

Justice Sallie Updyke Mundy is a Justice on the Pennsylvania Supreme Court having been elected to the highest court in Pennsylvania in 2017 for a ten-year term. Prior to her election, she had been appointed to the Supreme Court by Governor Tom Wolf in 2016.

She served from 2010 to 2016 on the Superior Court of Pennsylvania.

Justice Mundy received a Bachelor of Arts from Washington & Jefferson College in 1984 and a Juris Doctor from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law in 1987.

From 1987 to 1988, Justice Mundy served in a judicial clerkship under the Honorable Robert M. Kemp, President Judge of the Tioga County Courts of Common Pleas. In 1988, she entered private practice, working as a defense attorney in the field of medical malpractice. She eventually worked with the Philadelphia law firm, McEldrew & Fullam, from 1998 to 2009.
